Sweat It Out in Old Navy Activewear! #OldNavyStyleCouncil

Before I even finished posting about my Old Navy Dress Shopping Spree through Crowdtap, I was selected to also participate in an Old Navy Activewear Shopping Spree as well!  I can’t believe how lucky I have been to get all of these great shopping sprees, just for being a member of Crowdtap!  This was my seventh shopping spree, and all of them have just been amazing.

Old Navy.Crowdtap

I received two coupons, each valid for a free activewear top and bottom.  How awesome is that?!

My sister, Angela, our friend, Danielle, and I all headed out to my local Old Navy.  We went just two days before Christmas, and the store was bustling!  I’m five months pregnant, and the stress of the holidays and the exhaustion from pregnancy itself left me feeling a little under the weather, so Angela and Danielle had all the fun that day.  I just watched and snapped some pictures.  I thought I’d give my fiance, John, a break from having to take pictures of us at Old Navy.  He’s been such a great sport about it for all of the other trips!

Old Navy Crowdtap

The girls immediately headed to the activewear section in the store, and checked out all the great clothes.

Old Navy Crowdtap

Angela finds a coral tank she just loves.  Isn’t that color gorgeous?  She looks great in orange shades too.  Remember the stunning orange dress she got at our last shopping spree?

Old Navy Crowdtap

There was quite a selection of activewear, from yoga pants to tanks, sports bras, jackets and more!  There was a great variety of colors as well.  I was really impressed with the quality of the clothing.  They weren’t cheaply made like the activewear you find in some other stores, and seemed like they would last a long time, and hold up to workouts.

Slimming…I enjoy that word when it comes to activewear.  I need all the help I can get!

Old Navy Crowdtap

Isn’t this outfit adorable?  I’d wear this even outside of the gym!

Blue is my favorite color, and I absolutely love this shade of blue!

Danielle loves the yoga pants and can’t wait to try them on!  They look really comfy!

Nice jacket!

That’s a handful of activewear!

Checking it out in the mirror…

Old Navy Crowdtap

It looks awesome on her!!

Old Navy Crowdtap

Only $12 for one of those cute tanks!  I love that purple/pink color!

Old Navy Crowdtap

These jackets would be so great for going out for a walk.  Sometimes it’s a little chilly out, but I don’t want a big bulky jacket that will make me really hot while I’m walking.  These are perfect!

Old Navy Crowdtap

Look at all those sports bras!  Tons of colors to choose from.

Danielle tries on this pretty green shirt.  I love the color on her.

And Angela tries on that gorgeous blue tank.  I love that it’s loose and not too form-fitting.  When I work out, I get self conscious, so this tank would be really great to hide my curves!

Old Navy Crowdtap

Danielle tries the black jacket on over the green shirt, and she’s got the yoga pants on too.  She loves them!

Angela tries on the orange tank, then adds a jacket over it.

Old Navy Crowdtap

Surprise!  It even has holes for your thumbs to poke out of!  I think that’s really cool!

Old Navy Crowdtap

Love the zipped up look too!

Old Navy Crowdtap

Angela and Danielle had a great time shopping for Old Navy Activewear and found some really nice pieces.  They’ve recently been hitting the gym and going for walks, so these clothes will be put to good use!

Thank you again Old Navy & Crowdtap for an awesome shopping trip with my sister and our friend!

Get Stylin’ with Old Navy Dresses! #OldNavyStyleCouncil

So, yes, it’s winter time, which means it’s freezing cold outside.  Well, it is here in Maine anyway.  But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t wear dresses still.  With Christmas and New Year’s Eve right around the corner, why not dress up a little to celebrate the holidays?  If you’re looking for a great dress to wear for that special occasion, look no further than your local Old Navy store!

Once again, I was lucky enough to be chosen for another Old Navy shopping spree through my Crowdtap membership.  This was my SIXTH Old Navy shopping trip!  I have been so blessed to be chosen for all of these, and each one has just been incredibly fun.  I received two coupons – one for me, and one for a friend, to each get a FREE dress of our choice!

Old Navy Dresses

As usual, my sister Angela tagged along with me this time to pick out a dress.  Amber didn’t want to come, as she doesn’t wear dresses very often.  Angela practically lives in them though, so she was over the moon to come with me!  Our friend Danielle also came, because she loves dresses too!

When we got to Old Navy, we scanned the store for the dresses, and found a few racks.  All of the dresses were very retro looking, but really cute!  I love when they bring back those old styles and update them a little bit.  Angela was right in heaven, as she is into all things 60′s & 70′s.

I just love the look of this jean jacket paired with the black and white striped dress.

Old Navy Dresses

There were some very bright colors!

Old Navy Dresses

I ponder it for a moment, but I’m just not daring enough for red!  Notice the black under my arm??

Old Navy Dresses

Again, I am drawn to the look of denim over the dress, but the color is still too bright for me!

Old Navy Dresses

Angela isn’t scared away by the bright colors though, and that’s a good thing because she can totally pull them off!

Old Navy Dresses

Danielle takes a look at this pink dress.

Old Navy Dresses

While I look at MORE black dresses!

Old Navy Dresses

John caught me with a red dress in my hand.  I was just holding onto it for Angela though!

Old Navy Dresses

This is John, the love of my life, by the way.  How’d I get so lucky to find a guy who will put up with all of us ladies and take pictures for us on all of these Old Navy shopping trips??  He never complains, and is always happy to help me out!  I found this self-portrait in with all the Old Navy pictures he took.  He also makes me laugh quite often!

Old Navy Dresses

As always, we had a blast shopping together!  Notice those funky & colorful dresses Angela’s looking at??

Old Navy Dresses

I’m still browsing around, but I’m just not sure about those bright colors.  If I wasn’t four months pregnant, I might be a bit more daring, but right now I’m trying to distract people from looking at my belly!  ;)

Old Navy Dresses

Danielle grabs a red dress too.  She’s not afraid of bright colors either!

Old Navy Dresses

Old Navy Dresses

We grabbed a bunch of dresses, and walked around the store some more to see if we could find any other ones, and we did!  There was another display of dresses, that were a bit dressier and more modern than the other ones we had found.  These were definitely more my style.

Old Navy Dresses

Notice that sign there?  Buy 1, get 1 50% off STORE-WIDE!!

Old Navy Dresses

We had a great time looking at these dresses.  They were gorgeous!  I love the belt around the waist.  It’s a very flattering look.

Old Navy Dresses

Old Navy Dresses

Old Navy Dresses

Just wait until you see Angela in this bright orange dress.  She looks HOT!  I sure wish I could pull off orange!

Old Navy Dresses

They check out the wall of adorable shoes!  Old Navy is so smart to put these right above the dresses.  What girl doesn’t love to mix and match shoes, and with all the choices, the combinations are endless!

Old Navy Dresses

Look, there’s me picking out ANOTHER black dress!

Old Navy Dresses

Black & white stripes maybe?

Old Navy Dresses

We headed on over to the dressing rooms to try on our choices.  By this time, I was feeling pretty sluggish.  Pregnancy will do that to you pretty quickly.  Sadly, I didn’t really try on as many as I would have liked to, but I found one I liked pretty quickly anyway.

I tried on this sweater dress.  While very comfortable, it was just not at all flattering on me.  Can you say baby bump?!

Old Navy Dresses

Next, I tried on this cute black dress with a bright pink belt.

Old Navy Dresses

Danielle had the same idea!  We both stepped out of our dressing room at the same time, wearing the same dress!  Danielle ended up buying this one!

Old Navy Dresses

Angela tried on this beautiful black dress.

Old Navy Dresses

We posed for a group shot.

Old Navy Dresses

I tried on that black dress next, and that’s the one I ended up getting!

Old Navy Dresses

Danielle looked so cute in this red dress.

Old Navy Dresses

Angela tried on the green version!  She was born on St. Patty’s Day, so green is her color!

Old Navy Dresses

Danielle looks great in purple!

Old Navy Dresses

And I really love the black and grey striped dress on her!

Old Navy Dresses

But, I think she is just stunning in this green dress!

Old Navy Dresses

Angela tried on one of the bright, funky patterns.  I swear this girl can pull off ANYTHING!

Old Navy Dresses

Then she tried on that stunning green dress too, and totally rocked it!

Old Navy Dresses

She fell right in love with this dress, and spent at least 20 minutes deciding whether or not she wanted this one, or…. this gorgeous orange one!  She was absolutely breathtaking in this orange dress.  She had such a hard time making up her mind.  She consulted Danielle and I, the Old Navy sales people, and she even texted pictures of herself in both dresses to our Mom to get her opinion!

Old Navy Dresses

After A LOT of consideration, she finally decided to buy the orange one!  She really liked that the green one had long sleeves, and that she could have worn it on St. Patty’s Day, but this orange one, is really going to turn heads, and she just looks awesome in it!

Old Navy Dresses

We grabbed our dresses, and headed to the checkout!

My BBQ Party Was a Hit, Thanks to McCormick Grill Mates! #GrillAmbassador

Summer is officially here, and for me, that means lots of BBQ’s and quality time with friends and family.  My very favorite way to spend a warm Summer evening is sitting around the fire pit in the backyard, enjoying delicious grilled food and kicking back some cool, refreshing drinks with the ones I love.  Is there really anything better in life?

I have thoroughly enjoyed eating grilled foods ever since I was a little kid.  Now that I am an adult, I love preparing them just as much as I love eating them!  I was thrilled to recently become a Grill Mates Grill Ambassador through Crowdtap.  Have you signed up for Crowdtap yet?  It’s free to join, and you can connect with your favorite brands through survey questions and missions.  From time to time, you’ll also have the opportunity to apply to host brand parties just like this one!

I received a box full of McCormick sauces and seasonings to host a Grill Mates BBQ party for my friends and family.  My box included Brown Sugar Bourbon Rub & Sauce in one, Molasses Bacon Seasoning, Montreal Steak Seasoning, Spiced Brandy & Herb Marinade, and Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub.

For my BBQ party, I wanted to have a wide variety of meats available for everyone to taste, since I had so many different sauces and seasonings to work with.  I purchased a rack of pork ribs, ground hamburg, cubed steak,  a family pack of chicken legs (very inexpensive and always great on the grill!) and a pre-cooked ham.

I planned to make Brown Sugar Bourbon Ham and Chicken Legs, Molasses Bacon Cheeseburgers, Montreal Seasoned Steak Kabobs, Spiced Brandy & Herb Chicken Legs and Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Pork Ribs.

The morning before my party was about to start, I prepared my meats by placing them in individual sealed plastic bags with the sauce or seasoning I had selected.  I wanted them to marinate for a while before I grilled them up, so they would be really flavorful.  The smells in my kitchen were so wonderful already, that I could not wait for my party later in the day.

It seems as though every BBQ I have ever been to has served hot dogs.  Well, I like a hot dog every once in a while, but to be honest, I’ve grown quite tired of seeing them at every BBQ.  So, I vowed that I would not serve hot dogs at my BBQ.  Instead, I opted to serve ham.

Ham is not really something that people usually associate with a BBQ, but trust me, it works!  I cut my pre-cooked ham into cubes and marinated it in the Brown Sugar Bourbon Rub & Sauce.  I then placed it on a piece of aluminum foil and onto the grill and cooked it until it was heated through and golden brown on top.

Here is the final product.  Doesn’t it look delicious??  It definitely was!  The Brown Sugar Bourbon sauce was a perfect compliment to the ham.  It had a hint of sweetness to it, and it was certainly much tastier than a hot dog!

I had some of the Brown Sugar Bourbon Sauce left over, so I marinated half of my chicken legs with it.  I marinated the other half with the Spiced Brandy & Herb Marinade.

With all the meats I was going to cook, I actually decided to broil these chicken legs in the oven instead of grilling them.  They would have taken up quite a lot of room on the grill, and it would have made it difficult for me to have all of the meats ready at the same time.  When in a pinch, improvise where you need to.

As you can see below, the chicken legs came out beautifully, even though they were broiled in the oven, instead of cooked on the grill.  They were very flavorful and juicy.  I love cooking bone-in chicken because it always comes out really moist.

The flavors of the sauce and marinade were both truly wonderful, but my guests and I did find that the Spiced Brandy & Herb marinade did not really fit in well with the rest of the foods that were more BBQ flavored.  I think this marinade would work better on its own, perhaps with a side of roasted red potatoes and a green vegetable.  Wine would also compliment this marinade very well.

Out of all of the sauces and seasonings I received, I was most excited to try out the Molasses Bacon seasoning.  I immediately knew I would use this in my cheeseburgers.  How can you go wrong with bacon in a cheeseburger??  So, I sprinkled a generous amount of the seasoning into my hamburg and mixed it all up.

I honestly believe these were the best cheeseburgers I have ever made at home.  The flavor was absolutely amazing.  There was just a hint of sweetness from the molasses, and the deep flavor of the bacon.  This was my favorite part of the entire BBQ, and I will be making these again very soon!

My boyfriend was most excited about the ribs.  They are his favorite.  The smell of the Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub was absolutely incredible, and we couldn’t wait to try these. I spread the rub all over the rack of ribs and let it marinate for a while, allowing the flavor to really soak into the meat.

When it was done, it looked like this:

It was so juicy and delicious!  The Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub definitely made these ribs taste like they were grilled over low heat all day long, even though I only cooked them for about a half hour.

Next up, I made Montreal Steak Kabobs.  I have been using Montreal seasoning for years.  I absolutely love it on my steak.  It really gives it a great peppery flavor.  I also love the combination of bell peppers and steak, so I paired green, orange and yellow bell peppers with my cubed steak to make some pretty fantastic kabobs.

After they were grilled up, they looked like this:

These kabobs were absolutely fantastic.  Each bite packed a lot of flavor.

For sides, I served fresh corn on the cob,

fluffy mashed potatoes,

and a salad, made with lettuce fresh from my own garden.  We just had about 18 lettuce plants (not even joking) shoot up, so we’ve been trying to eat as much of it as we can!  There is really nothing better than vegetables fresh from your very own garden.

Everyone grabbed a plate, and rounded it over with these wonderful foods.

Thanks for such a great party, Crowdtap & McCormick!  The food was truly amazing, and it was time well spent catching up with friends and family.

My Old Navy Beach Bum Party was a Hit! #OldNavyStyleCouncil

As a member of Crowdtap, and the Old Navy Style Council, I was recently invited to host a Beach Bum Party for myself and three friends at my local Old Navy store.  This was the 5th Old Navy shopping spree for my sisters and I through Crowdtap, and we had a blast!  Check out our previous shopping sprees.

Last weekend I met my sisters and a friend of ours at Old Navy for a Beach Bum Party.  We were each given a coupon to Old Navy, good for a pair of flip flops, a pair of sunglasses, a beach towel and a beach bag.  Can you believe that?!  There’s nothing better than a free shopping spree at one of my very favorite stores!

I am a flip flop fanatic.  I’m usually a very thrifty and practical person.  I only have one handbag, a handful of clothes, and a couple of pairs of shoes.  I don’t really splurge on extras for myself very often, but when Summer comes, I just can’t help buying several pairs of flip flops.  They are so fun and casual, they come in so many different styles and colors, and best of all – they are really quite inexpensive so you don’t feel guilty about buying ten a few pairs.

Old Navy has a HUGE selection of flip flops.  There is an actual WALL OF FLIP FLOPS!  I was in flip flop heaven.

There were so many great colors to choose from!

 Here are our final selections!

My favorite part of the whole trip was trying on sunglasses.  Old Navy had quite a few styles of shades, and we had so much fun trying them on.

As you most likely know already, not every pair of sunglasses will suit you well, so it’s really important to try on several pairs to choose the perfect pair. Here’s a few crazy photos of us trying them on.  I swear, I think we all tried on every single pair of sunglasses in the store!

We had so much fun trying on different pairs of sunglasses.

Ummm, these are definitely too big for my face!  Not sure what Danielle’s surprised face is all about, but it’s too funny!

 Peace…

Ya, we were kind of being goofballs…

Nope, don’t think I can pull of the aviator shade look.

 Nope, definitely not.

Whoa!  These are definitely not the ones for me.

I felt silly in these white shades too.

Aha!  These ones are not too bad.

Amber and Danielle are stylin’ in their new shades!

Angela thinks she can’t pull off sunglasses period, but she looks fabulous in every pair she tries on!

 Stylin’

 I like ‘em.

Great memories.  :)

Next up, we found the beach towels.  There were lots of great patterns to choose from!

We each picked out a beach towel that suited our personalities.  I absolutely love my floral beach towel.  Isn’t it pretty?!

We made our way over to the beach bags.  I was a little disappointed because there weren’t a whole lot of them in stock.  Here are some really cute ones that we found during our Shorts Shopping Spree, but they were no where to be found today.  :(

We were still all able to find a beach bag that we were very happy with, however.  Mine matches the pink and orange colors in my beach towel!

We had SO much fun on our shopping trip!  Thank you again Old Navy and Crowdtap!

AFTER THE PARTY

Angela shows off her new sunglasses at the beach.

I always say Angela was born in the wrong decade.  This towel definitely suits her free spirited personality.

Amber totally rocks her new sunglasses at the beach!
