I’ve always been a huge fan of hard candies. I love that they last for quite a long time, so you can really savor and enjoy the delicious flavors. I was thrilled to recently try out a few selections of gourmet hard candies from Savor Sweets.
Savor Sweets is a little hard candy company in Spokane, Washington. Andrea Parrish-Geyer and Peter Geyer started the company in mid-2011 after making hundreds and hundreds of hard candies for friends and family.
They use only natural ingredients and make small batches to create lollipops in surprisingly delicious flavors. Most of their candies have only three main ingredients – organic evaporated cane juice, a little bit of lemon juice, and whole flavors (local and organic used whenever possible). They have no corn syrup, no artificial preservatives and no artificial flavorings. How great is that?! The packaging for these tasty treats is comprised of recycled paper printed with soy ink, biocompostable cellophane bags and organic compostable ribbon made in the USA. When you’re done with your treat, you can throw everything into your compost pile or yard waste bin! Awesome!!
Savor Sweets’ hard candies come in lots of great different flavors – Black Tea, Espresso (Made with Roast House coffee), Balsamic, Basil, Ginger, Chai Tea, Pink Peppercorn, Caramel with Sea Salt, Pomegranate and Lemon, Tiger’s Ear Vanilla Cinnamon, Fresh Mint, Spiced Honey Baklava, and Spicy Habenero. Don’t they sound amazing?? Each lollipop is in the shape of a flower too. How cute!
Gourmet Hard Candies
I received three different flavors to try out – Caramel with Sea Salt, Tiger’s Ear Vanilla Cinnamon and Spiced Honey Baklava. They were definitely amazing! Check out that cute packaging!
Here are my thoughts on each:
Caramel with Sea Salt
I absolutely love caramels, so I was really excited to try this flavor out. This candy is made with evaporated cane juice, butter, cream kosher salt and lemon juice. That’s it! No added junk! In addition to that, it tasted great! The candy is really smooth and just kind of melts in your mouth a little bit with every lick of the lollipop. As I was enjoying my lollipop, I kept thinking to myself “Oh, this is so good. It reminds me of something. What does it remind me of? Oh, this tastes so good!” Then I finally realized that it tasted exactly like a Werther’s Original, only in lollipop form! The texture of the lollipop was a little more sticky and chewy than a Werther’s Original, but that familiar sweet and buttery caramel flavor reminded me of it so much. I really loved this lollipop, and I was very excited that I received 2 of this particular lollipop, so I can enjoy it again in the very near future!
Tiger’s Ear Vanilla Cinnamon
This lollipop is made with evaporated cane juice, vanilla bean, stick cinnamon and lemon juice. Again, check out that short ingredients list! I just love it! This lollipop was very sweet and reminded me of a sugar cookie, or vanilla frosting. Again, the flavor was really smooth, and incredibly tasty! Wondering how this lollipop got its name? Well, where the creators of Savor Sweets grew up, there was a treat at the state fair called Tiger’s Ear. It was deep-fried vanilla-flavored dough, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. How delicious does that sound?? You may have heard of another well-known name for it, Elephant’s Ear. This is a wonderfully delicious treat, and you don’t have to wait for the fair to come to town to enjoy it!
Spiced Honey Baklava
The ingredients in this flavorful little lollipop are evaporated cane juice, honey, butter, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and lemon juice. This lollipop tasted very much like a gingerbread cookie to me, even though there is no ginger in it. The allspice and cloves really shine through and remind me of the Christmas holiday season when gingerbread is so popular. It’s a bit spicy, but sweet at the same time. If you love gingerbread cookies, but don’t love all the calories, try out one of these lollipops! It will satisfy your craving, without you gorging yourself with a whole bunch of fattening cookies!
I thoroughly savored and enjoyed each of these awesome gourmet lollipops. The flavors are out of this world. From the first lick, you can tell these lollipops are made with only the best ingredients. There’s definitely no scrimping here. I absolutely love how natural they are too – from the ingredients in the lollipops themselves, down to the compostable packaging. It’s so refreshing to find a company who cares about their customers and the earth so much. I really admire that, and I’ll be a huge fan of Savor Sweets for a very long time to come!
If you’d like to try these delicious lollipops for yourself, simply head on over and place an order at Savor Sweets!
